Insomnia

Sleep issues are common with menopause, lower progesterone (a calming hormone) and high stress hormone levels during the day can make it difficult to switch off at night. Other physical symptoms, like hot flushes, mood changes and stress also contribute to poor sleep.

For example, when we don’t sleep well, our immune systems can’t restore properly so we don’t recover from our day-to-day stresses and activities and then our adrenal glands make more stress hormones.

Magnificent Menopause No 1. tip for insomnia:

I use various herbs/hormones to help my clients sleep but a regular Qigong practice makes all the difference. Qigong is like slow tai chi - in fact it is the mother of Tai Chi and Kung Fu and has been used for all sorts of healing for thousands of years.

Spending just 15/20 minutes ‘swinging your arms’ around may feel ridiculous but it has an incredible effect on your nervous system and really helps to get you out of your head and into your body.

Here is my Qigong sequence ‘Healing Form and Sleep‘ If you find it works for you and you want to know more I have a library of prerecorded sequences or can teach you custom forms as part of my Natural Menopause Method programme.
