Sense of Loneliness
The menopause transition is often a time when women feel lonely.
We may feel:
Embarassed to discuss menopause with our nearest and dearest, colleagues or younger friends who just don’t really understand what we are going through.
Too tired or too socially anxious to go out with friends or even chat on the phone.
Like gathering ourselves in and almost hibernating, as we metamorphasise into the postmenopausal woman we will become.
Attracted to different kinds of people, as friends… We may not want to spend time with friends that tend to deplete us and we may find we don’t have many friends who actually nourish us.
Misunderstood by doctors or other professionals who should support us but may not have the skills or interest to give us the help we need.
No 1. Magnificent Menopause tip for feeling lonely:
Find a MenoCommunity
Find a way to talk to your nearest and dearest, maybe invite them to read something or watch something that makes it more real for them.
You can also find communities of people who are also going through menopause and may be experiencing similar symptoms, feelings, and emotions…
For example, you can join our FB community, jump on one of my free Menopause Monday group calls (you can find more details and sign up on the FB group) or sign up to one of my paid programmes where you work through your challenges with people who are going through the same thing, can share their experience and share what has worked well for them.
